WH Kemp 2021. Continual Improvement and Investment

As 2021 draws to a close, the team here at WH Kemp can reflect proudly on how we have maintained our usual high standards when manufacturing our core Cable Assembly and Control Panel products. Whether it is the quality of the products themselves or our delivery record, on both counts we have posted performance scores of 99.95%+ RFT and 93%+ OTIF throughout the year. Significant achievements when one considers this has been one of the most challenging periods for manufacturing businesses in recent times. All of which has meant another year of excellent supplier scorecard results in addition to unsolicited, kind compliments from our customers.

Continual Improvement

WH Kemp has continued to implement process improvements and invest in building inventory of raw materials and finished goods, this to ensure we always have the resources to meet each of our customers’ demand for Wiring Harnesses and Control Panels.

At the same time, by investing in safety and training programmes, we continue to protect the welfare of our people and enhance their ability to tackle the most intricate and demanding customer assignments.

Continual Investment

WH Kemp has also invested in excess of £150,000 on new machinery, testing equipment and environmental related projects. Capital expenditure includes adding to our wire processing department with the acquisition of the latest automated wire cutting, strip and crimp processing machine, purchased from Schleuniger. We have added more continuity analysers from Cablescan and high-performance crimping equipment from the likes of Cembre, JST, Tyco and Molex. As for our environmental related projects, these have included ongoing investment in lighting and heating systems designed to deliver greater energy efficiency.

The truth is it has been a difficult year; and at the time of ‘going to press’, it does appear that British manufacturers will continue to find themselves operating in an embattled environment of economic, political and health upheaval, well into 2022. However, our message to customers – both existing and to those who might be considering a review of their Wiring Harness and Box Build requirements – is, WH Kemp is in great shape to tackle whatever lies ahead.

We wish customers, suppliers, partners and competitors alike, the very best of luck during these uncertain times. And of course, a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Please note, WH Kemp will be closing its factory on 23rd December, returning 4th January 2022.
