WH Kemp has been manufacturing cable harnesses and sub-assemblies for the nuclear industry since 2003.  WH Kemp’s main customer within this sector has been building actuators for the nuclear sector and as a part of their supply agreements, they are required to meet industry standards, such as IEEE, RCCE and IEC.

Our customer’s Quality Assurance programme is audited by NUPIC. In turn, our customer undertakes annual audits of WH Kemp in line with NUPIC requirements, given the critical nature of the parts manufactured by WH Kemp.  WH Kemp’s team invariably meet the NUPIC requirements, with materials, specialist tooling, documentation, production processes, traceability all meeting the requirements.

Over many years engineers from the nuclear sector customer have been made welcome at WH Kemp’s facilities where they have been able to use our technician’s experience, alongside our tooling and work space to trial the builds of Cable Harnesses specifically for the nuclear sector.

To date, WH Kemp have produced over 5000 Cable Harnesses from 60 different drawings utilising nuclear specific materials and tooling.

WH Kemp’s processes are set up to register and trace all parts and tooling used in manufacture. The Certificates of Conformity provide comprehensive traceability data.  All relevant paperwork is then stored for 40 years.

WH Kemp has been involved in the Fit 4 Nuclear programme and progressed well. We have recently been requested to respond to an ITT for Cable Harnesses for Hinkley Point C through the MEH Alliance supporting EDF. In this case WH Kemp declined the invitation due to other major projects taking place at the time.
