ISO, IPC & UL Wire Harness Accreditation

WH Kemp is accredited to ISO 9001:2015, can manufacture to UL (Underwriters Laboratories) component recognition for Wiring Harness Assembly (ZPFW2) and our people are trained to the latest IPC WHMA-A-620 standard.

Our customers benefit from WH Kemp’s UL Wire Harness recognised component programme. This guarantees samples of specified components have been inspected by UL representatives to meet applicable UL requirements and assembled to ZPFW2 wiring harness standard. Coupled with our ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and unbeatable quality you can have confidence in wiring harness and cable assembly products built by WH Kemp.

WH Kemp is accredited by LRQA to the ISO 9001:2015 standard, having held a certified Quality Management System since 1997.

WH Kemp has been manufacturing to the UL ZPFW2 component recognition system for over 30 years and is proud to have been the first British manufacturer to achieve this UL Wire Harness accreditation.

Underwriters Laboratories is an independent product safety testing and certification organisation working for public safety since 1894. Since its founding, UL has held the reputation as the undisputed leader in product safety and certification. Today, UL gives customers, regulators, retailers and consumers peace of mind. The UL assessor visits quarterly and their visits are unannounced.

Customers who export goods to USA and Canada require wiring looms and cable assemblies fitted within their equipment to have been made following the UL procedures and traceability.

It is an exception that any auditor of WH Kemp’s quality systems and processes reports non-conformance and the company has never had a major non-conformance.

Our latest IPC WHMA-A-620 training was undertaken in December 2022 and employees passed all their assessments during the 4 days. The IPC standard prescribes the practices and requirements for the manufacture of wiring harnesses and cable assemblies. The standard describes materials, methods, tests and the acceptability criteria for producing crimped, mechanically secured and soldered interconnections, and the related assembly activities associated with cable and wiring harness assemblies.

We also meet customers’ requirements when it comes to questions relating to REACH,  RoHS, Conflict Minerals and Anti-Slavery. Most recently we enabled a global customer to use the CE markings on their products fitted with our cable assemblies.
