Our Wire Harness Heritage
In 1967 our Cable Assembly journey began with a single customer and the manufacture of highly resilient harnesses for use in machinery deployed in one of the world’s most challenging environments – the offshore Oil & Gas industry.
In 2021 we are proud to still call that company a customer. One which, not only is listed on the FTSE 250 Index, but also is recognised worldwide as a genuine engineering giant.

Our loyal and long serving team of skilled technicians are IPC trained and work within customer-specific production cells, where they continuously gain insight and training to ensure each customer’s needs is met.
For many years we have worked to a multi-stage process efficiency system using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma guides and tools. We engage consultants on a frequent basis to aid our Continual Improvement Programme, whilst our supervisors and managers regularly attend training courses.
Our Wire Harnesses and Cable Assemblies are manufactured to reflect, to the letter, your business specifications, drawings and/or golden sample. From the outset of all contracts, we encourage our customers’ engineers to work closely with our own account managers and new product introduction team. A process that illustrates total transparency on our part, as well as guaranteeing our full understanding of your requirements.
Our Cable Types and Component Connectors
We are skilled in using many different forms of cable. Operating a rigorous Right First Time and Delivery On Time policy, means we hold a wide variety of cable in stock.
Typically, we produce Wiring harnesses and Cable assemblies manufactured from: Coax Cables, Tri-rated, Multicore, IDC ribbon cable, Single Core, Cat5, Cat6, Telephone, Audio, USB, High Temp, Low Temp, RJ45 Patch Leads, Marine, Twisted Pair, Shielded, Unshielded, Flame Retardant and PTFE, LSHF/Low Smoke Zero Halogen.
As for our component connectors, again we can source rapidly or we stock sufficient volume and range to suit all your business needs, including: Weidmuller, Phoenix, JST, Molex, Amphenol, Lemo, Tyco, Hirose and Deutsch.
Our Performance Promise
Customers can rest assured that any Cable Assembly or Wiring Harness assembled by the WH Kemp team is produced in accordance with IPC standards. We hold UL accreditation, and manufacture within a Quality Management System conforming to ISO 9001.
We work to Zero Defects Targets. Potential and actual errors, once detected at the various inspection stages, are discussed and examined in our daily team meetings, and fully rectified prior to moving to final production and delivery. Root cause analysis systems, such as the ‘5 Whys’, are embedded in our processes to eliminate error repeats.
Our Cable Assemblies are organised and packed according to customers’ stated instructions. Over the past two years, the company has been running at an average Delivery On Time rate of 98%+, which of course means the majority of our customers are benefitting from 100% OTIF.
We appreciate customer circumstances and schedules can change, often at short notice and for good reason. At WH Kemp, we adopt a flexible manufacturing process. More often than not, due to our scale, we can alter our internal scheduling of teams and machinery, in order to bring orders forward or expedite very short deadlines.
