Cable Testing and Inspection

Verified Performance and Assured Reliability

Testing, inspection and quality documentation built around your product, specification and approval requirements.

WH Kemp integrates testing and inspection into every stage of manufacture, helping customers reduce risk, simplify approval and receive assemblies that are ready to perform from the moment they arrive. Our dedicated Quality and New Product Development teams engage at the outset to understand the electrical, mechanical, visual and documentation requirements for each project.

Quality Oversight Throughout Production

Quality Inspectors are aligned with specific production cells and customer programmes, allowing them to build detailed knowledge of individual products, specifications and acceptance criteria. This continuity supports consistent workmanship, faster issue resolution and a disciplined approach to our zero-defect target.

Testing Designed Around Your Product

We maintain a broad range of test equipment and software to verify cable assemblies, wiring harnesses, control panels and related electromechanical builds against customer specifications. Where a standard test method is not sufficient, our engineers can design and build bespoke test equipment for the application.

Dedicated test boards are produced for most repeat cable assemblies. Inspection routines, electrical tests and acceptance checks are incorporated directly into the manufacturing process rather than left until final inspection. This helps identify issues earlier and improves repeatability.

Documentation That Supports Approval and Traceability

We prepare the quality records and approval documentation required by each customer and programme. Depending on the application, this may include,

  • First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR)
  • Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation
  • 8D problem-solving reports
  • Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (Process FMEA)
  • Risk FMEA and supporting inspection or test records

Our Quality, New Product Development and production teams work together to identify risks early, reduce process variation and resolve issues in a structured way. Relevant records can be shared with customers as required.

Trained People. Controlled Processes.

Our operators are trained to IPC/WHMA-A-620 workmanship standards and supported by structured training plans, competency matrices and ongoing skills assessments. Together with cell-based quality oversight, this helps maintain consistent standards as products move from prototype and first-article approval into repeat production.

Quality Tools and Continual Improvement

Inspection, testing and structured problem-solving tools form part of our continual-improvement programme. The objective is to control process variation, resolve issues at source and provide evidence that each build meets the agreed specification.
