WH Kemp’s story began in 1966, when the business emerged from Rotork in Bath to manufacture specialist wiring looms for Rotork and other engineering businesses in the region. The company was formally inaugurated on 10 January 1967.
Its original purpose was straightforward: to provide local manufacturers with dependable electrical assemblies, specialist workmanship and a responsive supply partner.
During its early years, WH Kemp produced wiring looms and cable assemblies for Rotork and other manufacturers across Southern England.
As manufacturers increasingly looked to specialist suppliers for electrical assembly work, WH Kemp developed the practical expertise and skilled workforce on which the business is still built today.
From the outset, success depended on understanding each customer's requirements, producing reliable assemblies and delivering what had been promised - principles that continue to shape the company.
As WH Kemp developed, the company relocated from Bath to larger premises in nearby Bradford-on-Avon. The move provided greater capacity for its workforce, manufacturing equipment and expanding range of electrical assembly services.
Over the following years, WH Kemp's capabilities evolved beyond traditional wiring looms and cable assemblies as customers entrusted the company with increasingly complex manufacturing requirements.
In 2002, WH Kemp moved to its present home: a purpose-built, three-acre site with more than 20,000 sq. ft of manufacturing space in Westbury, Wiltshire.
From here, we manufacture wiring harnesses, cable assemblies, control panels, box builds and other electrical and electromechanical assemblies for specialist UK manufacturers and international engineering groups.
Rotork played an important part in the creation of WH Kemp and remains a valued customer today. Nearly 60 years after the first wiring looms were produced in Bath, we continue to support Rotork across numerous projects.
That enduring relationship says something important about WH Kemp. Our facilities, capabilities and ambitions have changed considerably, but the business remains built on technical understanding, dependable delivery and long-term customer relationships.
Today, WH Kemp combines almost 60 years of manufacturing knowledge with a forward-looking approach to investment, technology and continuous improvement.
As customer requirements and manufacturing technologies evolve, WH Kemp is evolving with them – investing in the people, capabilities and processes needed for the future while preserving the service culture on which the company was built.
