Over the past four years, WH Kemp has worked in partnership with our customer’s engineers to develop and provide Control Panels and Wiring Looms that ensure the safe transfer of gas from ships. Our customer is a global leader in the design and manufacture of safety equipment.
Traditionally, the company offered many versions of their safety equipment. With new management on board, they decided to consolidate their product portfolio. Quality was of overriding importance throughout, since their products need to remain totally effective in the most hazardous of environments. Their engineering team, tasked with evaluating how to consolidate the portfolio, spent many hours working alongside our people on the shop floor, reviewing and testing different solutions. Wiring Looms and Control Boxes needed to be designed to cover many usage scenarios.
Through working alongside WH Kemp, the Control Box design has been completed, and we now build the Control Boxes and Wiring Looms used globally to aid the safe transfer of gas, often in ATEX Zone 1 and Zone 2 environments. The customer’s engineers have been consistently complimentary about the help and support received from our team, and the relationship continues today, now extending into further electromechanical sub-assemblies.
Challenge
Consolidating a safety equipment portfolio into Wiring Looms and Control Boxes that could cover many usage scenarios, without compromising reliability in hazardous environments.
Solution
WH Kemp’s team worked alongside the customer’s engineers on the shop floor, reviewing and testing different design solutions until the Control Box design was completed.
Outcome
Control Boxes and Wiring Looms now used globally to aid safe gas transfer in ATEX Zone 1 and Zone 2 environments, with the partnership continuing into further electromechanical sub-assembly work.
