Engineers from Williams contacted WH Kemp to develop cable harnesses for their Hybrid Power Division, working on composite flywheel-based energy storage systems for the bus, truck and tram markets.
When the business was later sold to GKN Hybrid Power, WH Kemp continued the relationship, supporting the same cable harness development work under new ownership.
The project explored various ways the technology could be applied across different vehicle types, with WH Kemp developing cable harness design concepts to support a range of vehicle applications alongside the customer’s engineers.
Challenge
Designing cable harnesses to support an advancing energy storage technology across a range of different vehicle applications.
Solution
WH Kemp worked with the customer’s engineers to develop cable harness design concepts for a variety of vehicle types, continuing the relationship through a change in ownership of the business.
Outcome
Cable harness design support was successfully provided across a range of vehicle applications for this developing technology.
