Wire Harnesses and Cable Assemblies

From Prototype to Production, Built Around Your Requirements

Working with your engineers to deliver reliable, repeatable cable assemblies, with full quality documentation and traceability.

WH Kemp has manufactured wiring harnesses and cable assemblies since 1967, supporting OEMs across many of the UK’s most demanding industries. Our IPC/WHMA-A-620-trained teams build precision cable assemblies for defence, energy and grid infrastructure, medical, industrial and other safety-critical applications, with every batch supported by full quality documentation and complete traceability.

Our Wire Harness Heritage

For almost sixty years, WH Kemp has specialised in the manufacture of wiring harnesses and cable assemblies. The business began in Bath and now manufactures from its purpose-built facility in Westbury, Wiltshire.

Our assemblies are manufactured by our own teams, under our direct control and quality systems. Where a customer’s requirements call for an alternative manufacturing location or specialist capability, we can also work with established partners in Europe and the Far East, with the approach agreed clearly with the customer.

Our Sector Experience

WH Kemp’s wire harness customers span six core sectors, Defence and Uncrewed Systems, Nuclear, Grid and Energy Infrastructure, Industrial, Fire and Safety, Transport and Off-Highway Vehicles, Medical and Scientific, and Specialist Sectors.

Working across these industries gives our teams experience of a wide range of electrical, environmental and manufacturing challenges. Lessons learned in one sector frequently benefit another, helping us improve manufacturability, quality and reliability for every customer.

Our People, Processes and Facility

Our production facility occupies a three-acre, purpose-built site in Westbury, Wiltshire, housing modern machinery, tooling and testing equipment.

Our IPC/WHMA-A-620-trained technicians work within customer-specific production cells, developing detailed knowledge of each customer’s products and requirements. Daily production-cell meetings, Quality Circles and GEMBA walks, together with structured problem-solving methods including 8D, 5 Whys and process FMEA, are embedded across our operations.

We have adopted Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methods, supported by regular training programmes and external lean expertise. Every wiring harness and cable assembly is built to your specification, drawing or approved golden sample.

From the outset, our commercial and New Product Introduction team work closely with your engineers to establish a clear understanding of the requirement. By involving manufacturing expertise early, we can often identify opportunities to improve assembly methods, reduce unnecessary complexity and strengthen long-term manufacturing reliability without compromising the original design intent.

Cable Types and Component Connectors

We hold a wide variety of cable in stock to support our Right First Time and Delivery On Time objectives. This includes coaxial, tri-rated, multicore, IDC ribbon, single-core, Cat5 and Cat6, telephone and audio, USB, high- and low-temperature, RJ45 patch, marine, twisted-pair, shielded and unshielded, flame-retardant, PTFE and Low Smoke Halogen Free cable.

We work with a broad range of component connectors, sourced rapidly or held in stock, including Amphenol, LEMO, HARTING, Hellermann, Phoenix Contact, Deutsch, JST, Molex, Weidmüller, TE Connectivity and Hirose.

Our Performance Promise

Every wiring harness and cable assembly is manufactured to IPC/WHMA-A-620 workmanship standards within an ISO 9001:2015-certified Quality Management System. WH Kemp holds UL Recognized Component status under file ZPFW2.E101874, required by several customers manufacturing end products for North America.

Our objective is simple, deliver every assembly right first time. Any issue identified during inspection is reviewed promptly, its root cause established and corrective action implemented before final production and delivery.

In 2025, WH Kemp delivered 98% of customer orders on time.

Because we manufacture from our Wiltshire facility, we can respond quickly when customer priorities change. Whether bringing production forward, accommodating engineering changes or supporting urgent requirements, our teams work closely with customers to maintain supply without compromising quality.
